The education minister has issued a decree setting the maximum increase private universities can charge at 0.75 per cent, the ministry announced on Wednesday.
By law private universities cannot change the fees without the approval of the ministry and the minister can impose a maximum increase.
The decree concerns the academic year from 2019 to 2020.
All applications for a revision of tuition fees and other charges should be submitted by September 15, 2018 and will apply for the next financial year once approved by the education minister.
Only programmes in which students enrol for the first time are subject to revision.
