Drug dealer sentenced in north

A Greek Cypriot man was sentenced to five years in prison in the north after being found guilty of drug ‘import’ and trafficking, it was reported on Friday.

Constantinos Christoforou was arrested last December along with two other people during a sting operation while in his car in the parking lot of a hospital in Nicosia in the north. In Christoforou’s car, the court heard, according to daily Havadis, more than half a kilo of cannabis was found, believed to have been brought from the government-controlled areas.

Police in the north learned of Christoforou from six people they had arrested in Kyrenia earlier that day for drug possession.
