Elderly man dies in sea

An 84-year-old man died on Monday while bathing in the sea of Paphos, off Geroskipou.

Vasilis Christou, an overseas Cypriot, was seen floating unconscious by his wife who called the lifeguards for help.

The lifeguards pulled the man out and administered first aid but could not resuscitate him.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem will take place to determine the cause of death.
