Marios Georgiou wins gold in Mediterranean Games gymnastics

Cyprus’ mission to the 18th Mediterranean Games in Tarragona is celebrating its first gold victory, as Marios Georgiou won the country a gold medal in the Artistic Gymnastics discipline, in the Men’s Individual All-Around Final.

The 19-year-old Georgiou won the gold medal with 84,050 points, with French athlete Julien Gobaux in second place, and Ahmet Onder from Turkey in third place.

Georgiou’s points breakdown was as follows:
Floor 13,950 points, Pommel Horse 14,650, Rings 13,750, Vault 14,200, Parallel Bars 13,650, Horizontal Bar 13,850.

The Cyprus Olympic Committee has congratulated Georgiou on this first victory and is optimistic that more will follow.
