British tourist arrested after fellow Brit injured in fight

A 21-year-old British tourist was arrested early on Monday on suspicion of seriously injuring a 24-year-old Briton in the Famagusta area on Sunday morning.

The 24-year-old victim, also a tourist, was taken to Famagusta general hospital with a head injury and later transferred to Nicosia because of the severity of his condition. He underwent surgery in the intensive care unit.

Investigations concluded that he was attacked when he was returning to his hotel in the Famagusta region at dawn.

Evidence suggests the 21-year-old man was involved and he was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday to facilitate investigations.
