Body of dead Briton found in Maroni home

By Christophe Hadjigeorgiou

The body of a 51-year-old British resident of Maroni was found on Tuesday evening in his home after a neighbour called in at the Zygi police station reporting a strong smell.

Police were contacted around 8.30pm and with the help of members of the fire services they knocked down the door and found the Briton in his bathroom in a state of decomposition.

The cause of death is currently unknown and will be determined by a post mortem that will take place on Wednesday at Larnaca general hospital.

Foul play has been ruled out as the cause of death. The Briton’s neighbours have reported that it had been days since they last saw him.
