Late flyer tried to climb fence to catch plane

By Christophe Hadjigeorgiou

Police arrested a 46-year-old Ukrainian man at Paphos Airport on Wednesday morning after he tried to climb the fence surrounding the airport to catch his flight.

According to police, the man had arrived with his wife and two young children at the airport, left them at the departure gate, and proceeded to return their rental car.

When he returned the departure gate had closed.

Fearing he was not going to catch his flight, he decided to take the shortest route to the plane, climbed the fence and was about to head to the bus which took the passengers to the plane when he was arrested.

The man is being detained while his family have caught their flight to Poland.
