Limassol man arrested for child pornography

By Christophe Hadjigeorgiou

A 41-year-old man from Limassol was remanded for six days on Wednesday in connection with a case concerning child pornography.

The man was arrested after the police cyber crime unit was alerted by Interpol and Europol  after a minor living in another country reported that she had been in communication with another social network user, and had sent him pornographic material of herself.

Following preliminary investigations, it emerged the user was located in Cyprus.

After further enquiries, the cyber crime unit secured a testimony against the 41-year-old, against whom authorities secured two warrants, one for his arrest, the other to search his home.

He was arrested at noon in his residence in Limassol, while police seized all devices found there – a mobile phone, a computer and a tower.
