Archbishop discharged following surgery

Archbishop Chrysostomos returning home to the archbishopric on Thursday

Archbishop Chrysostomos has been discharged from hospital where he had undergone surgery to remove a tumour from his large intestine, it was announced on Thursday.

According to a Church statement, the archbishop’s condition is good and he is recovering fast.

“I am very well and doctors who undertook my treatment are excellent scientists,” the head of the Church of Cyprus said. “Nevertheless, we must accept both the good and the bad in our lives. God loves us much more than we love Him. We shall overcome. God bless.”

The operation was carried out at the Areteion private hospital in Nicosia. The 77-year-old Chrysostomos returned to the archbishopric in the early hours of Thursday.
