Cyta launches fibre optic network

By Christophe Hadjigeorgiou

The Cyprus Telecommunications authority (Cyta) on Thursday launched its new fibre optic network and the increase of its mobile network to 1 Gigabit Cyprus, moving closer to ultra high speed broadband networks and a 4.5G mobile network.

Fibre optic is expected to be available from late July 2018. Internet Home will range up to 160Mbps, while Internet Business can reach up to 1Gbps. The service is expected to expand over the next ten years to 200,000 homes.
