Police arrested two 18 year olds in Nicosia district on Thursday who they suspect blew up a 56-year-old man’s car.

The explosion occurred at around 03:10 AM on Wednesday, and was caused by an improvised explosive device made from a water pipe. The vehicle was parked on the street just outside the man’s house.

Police searched the teenagers’ homes and arrested them to simplify any further enquiries.

The first suspect was found to be in possession of three mopeds for which he gave no satisfactory explanations. He was taken in for illegal possession of property. The second suspect had motorcycle parts which had been reported stolen in August 2017.
