Police arrest illegals and employers

Police arrested 12 people on Thursday for illegal employment during a joint operation with the customs department to check leisure centres and other premises.

Multiple police departments coordinated the investigation and searched three restaurants and a warehouse. Nine people were found to have been employed illegally. They were arrested along with three restaurant managers.

The investigation also led to the seizure of 85kg of hookah tobacco and a total of €17,705. Customs officers have retained the items in order to identify their origin and to confirm all legal duties were paid.
