Apollon and Anorthosis on Thursday begin what they hope to be a long and eventful European journey in the Europa League as they face FC Stumbras and KF Laci respectively in qualifying.
Apollon travel to Lithuania for the first leg to take on upstarts FC Stumbras, a team that was formed just five years ago and who will be competing for the first time in a European competition.
Apollon have not been very aggressive in the transfer market until now with just one new boy, Kevin Bru, expected to feature in the game.
However they should still prove to be too strong for the inexperienced Lithuanians over the two legs.
Their press officer Fanourios Constantinou said that they would be happy with a result that would allow them to “complete the job in Cyprus” and that their aim is to “progress and play in the group stages of the competition.”
Anorthosis entertain Albanian side KF Laçi at an empty Antonis Papadopoulos as the Famagusta side is serving a home ban that dates back years years, the last time they competed in a European competition.
Despite this, they should also prove too strong for the Albanians who have one non-Albanian in their squad, the Brazilian Maicon Esquerda, and have managed just once to progress to the next qualifying round five years ago.
Both games kick off at 8pm.
