Two arrested on suspicion of jewellery theft

Following a tip-off, police arrested two people in Larnaca on Monday afternoon who are suspected of trying to sell stolen jewellery.

The suspects, aged 25 and 30, reportedly visited various jewellers in the city and attempted to sell a diamond ring worth €5,000.

The 30-year-old man was found in possession of three diamond rings when searched and could not give a satisfactory explanation regarding their origin.

The arrested persons are expected to be remanded on Tuesday.
