Man arrested after police chase ends in crash

Police chased and arrested a 24-year-old man in Limassol on Wednesday afternoon after they found more than four kilos of cannabis in his possession.

Following a tip-off, officers of the drug squad tried to stop his car at around 3.15pm for inspection.

The driver, however, picked up speed trying to escape and collided with a police car only coming to a stop when he hit a parked car.

During their attempt to stop the vehicle officers fired four warning shots.

When the car of the suspect, a Limassol resident, was searched, four packs of cannabis weighing four kilos were found.

The drugs and the amount of €495 which were discovered in the car were seized.
