Unidentified tourist hit in Paphos traffic accident (updated)

A man who was hit by a car shortly after midnight on Thursday in Paphos is in critical condition in hospital.

The man had no ID on him at the time and was initially believed to be a tourist in his 70s but was later identified as a 61-year-old resident of Paphos.

He was crossing Danae avenue in Kato Paphos when the accident occurred.

He underwent surgery and is being treated in the intensive care unit of Paphos general hospital.

The vehicle was driven by a 32-year-old resident of Paphos who was arrested and given a breathalyzer test which showed he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
