Police crack down on child pornography

POLICE on Thursday arrested a 24-year-old man from Limassol in an ongoing investigation into a child pornography case.

The man was detained for questioning in connection with the prior arrest of a 20-year-old from Nicosia, who on Monday was remanded in custody on suspicion of illegal possession and distribution of child pornography.

Police searched the 24-year-old’s residence, locating and seizing three hard drives, four data storage devices, two mobile phones, a tablet and a computer.

In a separate case, a 60-year-old from Paphos was placed under arrest, again on suspicion of possessing child pornography material.

Various electronic devices and storage drives were seized from the man’s home.

The police cybercrime unit is investigating.
