A kaleidoscope of an exhibition

Theodoulos Gregoriou’s latest artistic work tries to find the balance between two opposite poles, the materialist one and the intangible one. The artist will present this thematic in his exhibition Géographie Mentale opening on November 9.

This series of work, is a continuation of the Personal Geography installation created by the artist at the Louvre Square in Paris. With his new creations he deals with the raw material and potential symbolic imprints left by the human mind in space. Like the historic palm oil, the layers of time follow one another. And each time has a form and image enriched with memories, features and symptoms of its time.

Faithful to his theme, which is based on an excerpt from Aristotle and especially on his theory that “matter brings in itself the principle of motion and change but takes shape and image with the intervention of the mind”, Theodoulos tries to establish the equilibrium between opposite worlds.

This time, he performs it through parallel piped structures made of transparent glass mirrors, thus achieving a virtual multiplication of a composition of minerals, sculptures and interior luminous surfaces. With these pieces, the artist creates a kaleidoscopic feeling, adding a spatial and temporal dimension to his work.

With a rich portfolio and a long-running series of exhibitions at established institutions such as the Biennale of Venice, Theodoulos’ artwork is set to impress. Enter his perplexed outlook at his exhibition.
