The summer festivals and street parties may have come to an end but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of musical events. Places like The Shoe Factory organise almost weekly concerts and live performances with established musicians and so the momentum of attending cultural activities that we all yearn for in the more quiet months of the year continues.
On November 23 German pianist Katharina Treutler takes the stage at the venue in old Nicosia, to woo the public with her melodies. The recital is presented by The Pharos Arts Foundation and coincides with the release of Treutler’s new album, Beyond, and it will include works by Bach, Liszt, Franck and Prokofiev.
As a pianist she’s acclaimed for her “great sensitivity and brilliant dexterity” (Classic FM) and has won prizes in a number of competitions including the International Piano Competition Luciano Luciani in Italy, the Chopin Society Prize and the International Brahms Competition.
After performing all over the world with such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, she hits Cypriot soil for a single night.
The recital is organised as part of the German Language Weeks and is supported by the German Embassy.
