Man fined €2K for possession of dead birds

A bird stuck on a limestick, which is used by trappers to catch ambelopoulia

A 63-year-old man from Famagusta was fined €2,000 on Friday after he was caught in possession of 36 dead wild birds.

The birds were found in plastic containers by police and Game Fund officers during a search of the man’s house at 8.20am on Friday.

A Game Fund expert determined they were wild birds and the man was fined €2,000.
