Clarinet sounds in Paphos

Never mind the usual piano, violin and guitar recitals, here comes a musical evening featuring another musical instrument; the clarinet.

On December 13, Technopolis 20 in Paphos opens its doors again to beguile the audience with clarinet sounds – albeit also with the harmonious addition of the piano, with Bulgarian pianist Gergana Georgieva accompanying the Cypriot clarinetist George Georgiou. Combining their sounds, they will perform a melodious programme that includes works by Robert Schumann, Solon Michailides, J.S. Bach, Leonardo Schiavo and Camille Saint-Saens.

The Georgiou-Georgieva Duo was formed in 2018 by the eponymous duo. George Georgiou is known for his energetic and inspirational performances so be ready to enjoy his onstage style, whereas Gergana Georgieva has equally performed around Europe and even with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. The duo is based in Cyprus and has already appeared in several local performances in venues like the Cyprus Wine Museum (Chamber Music Series 2018) and the Technopolis 20 series.

This performance at the Paphos music hub is presented by the Paphos Music Lovers Association Winter Festival, which began on November 13 and will adorn the local music scene with concerts until December 17. All proceeds from this concert will go towards the Paphos Music Lovers Association fund to support local arts projects.

For Nicosians who cannot attend the Paphos concert, fear not! Recitals at the Pharos Trust and the A.G. Leventis Gallery are coming up as well, so stay tuned.
