UNSG’s Special Representative in Cyprus, Elizabeth Spehar, is currently holding meetings with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties to hear their views on how they see the future of the reunification talks, the Cyprus News Agency said on Thursday.

Quoting an unnamed source, CNA said that before flying to New York in January, Spehar is also expected to hold meetings with President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.

The UNSG’s report on the renewal of UNFICYP’s mandate will be presented by Spehar during the third or fourth week of January, according to the same source.

On Thursday, Spehar sent invitations to the two leaders and politicians from both communities and to members of the diplomatic community for the end of year reception to be hosted at Ledra Palace on December 11.

However, Anastasiades will in Strasbourg during that period, where he will address the European Parliament.
