Defence minister leaves for Cairo

Defence Minister Savvas Angelides

Defence Minister Savvas Angelides is heading to Cairo later on Sunday following an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart General Mohamed Zaki to be present at the official opening of the defence exhibition EDEX-2018 by Egyptian president Αbdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The exhibition is being held for the first time with companies involved with the military from over 40 countries expected to take part.

During his visit, a tripartite meeting will take place of the defence ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt, during which a review of the relationship between the three will take place with a view to finding ways to upgrade it.

They will also discuss issues of regional security and other issues of joint interest including maritime security in the eastern Mediterranean.
