Small quake recorded in Nicosia area

A small earthquake was recorded in the Nicosia area at 2.16am on Monday, the geological survey department announced.

The earthquake, which measured 3.7 on the Richter scale, had its centre 11 kilometres south west of the capital at a depth of 65.95 kilometres.

“Due to the small magnitude of the earthquake, it was only felt slightly, but due to its relatively large focal depth, it was felt in a relatively large area,” the department said.

Details are available on the website of the geological survey department at http://www.moa.gov.cy/gsd.
