The policy and commitment of former US President George HW Bush to ideals and values, particularly in tough times of global history, have shown that leadership is accompanied by great responsibility, President Nicos Anastasiades wrote on Thursday in the condolence book for the former’s death opened at the US Embassy in Nicosia.
In his message, Anastasiades wrote that George HW Bush, as a true leader, was distinguished for his life-long dedication, “which is an inspiration to us all.”
He wrote that Bush was a respected leader who led the world into a new era “with pragmatism, devotion and integrity.”
“We express our deep condolences to his family and the people of the United States of America,” Anastasiades wrote.
The US Embassy announced that the Condolence Book in honour of late President Bush will be available for the public to sign at the Embassy’s main gate on Friday from 11am to 1pm.
George HW Bush, who died on November 30 at the age of 94, served as vice-president of the US from 1981 to 1989 and President from 1989 to 1993.
