Arrest after hooks stolen from slaughterhouse

Police arrested a man in Nicosia on Thursday evening in connection with the theft of aluminium hooks from a slaughterhouse.

The manager of the abattoir reported to police at 3pm that over Wednesday night a number of aluminium hooks kept in a box were stolen from the grounds of the slaughterhouse.

He said a total of 200 hooks worth €7,000 which had been bought in 2014 had kept disappearing over the course of this year culminating in the theft of the last ones the night before.

The 35-year-old man who was arrested after evidence pointed to his involvement in the case reportedly admitted that he stole the items.
