Neophytou attends funerals of Turkish Cypriots killed in floods

Disy leader Averof Neophytou lays a wreath on the coffin of one of the victims who died in the floods in Kyrenia

Disy leader Averof Neophytou on Saturday attended the funeral of two Turkish Cypriot youths who died in the floods in Kyrenia caused by heavy rain.

In a statement, the party expressed its sincere condolences to the families of “our Turkish Cypriot compatriots who lost their lives”.

Neophytou attended the funeral in Dhikimo of 21-year-old Tolga Bekci and Gunay Kandaz, 18, who were among four people killed when the car they were in was swept away by a torrent during flash floods earlier this week.

The Disy leader was accompanied by the head of the party’s Cyprus desk Charalambos Stavrides and the chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Fikri Toros.
