A motorist who was nearly five times over the legal alcohol limit was caught on Sunday evening near Pissouri.

Police officers found the 58-year-old man on the old Paphos to Limassol road where he was parked trying to start the vehicle.

As he smelled strongly of alcohol he was breathalysed on the spot. The reading showed 102μg instead of the 22μg which is the upper legal limit.

He was tested again at the Pissouri police station with a result of 101μg.

The man was told he would be charged and was taken home.
