Symmetry is missing

Creating harmony without symmetry was the driving force behind Iro Kaskani’s latest jewellery exhibition titled “symmetry is missing”. Opening on December 14 at Garage Art Space in old Nicosia, Iro presents selected jewellery from earlier series along with new body of works.

Iro might have never searched for the elements of symmetry and precision, yet they may have been unconsciously following her as she studied architecture in Florence. Even during her architecture degree, Iro undertook jewellery design courses and workshops, developing her craft since then. Upon her return to Cyprus, she initially worked as an architect while at the same time becoming involved in the contemporary jewellery scene. Since 2008 she has been working almost exclusively on jewellery and is now set to share her craft.

This is not her first exhibition though, as the artist has taken part in solo and group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad (Spain, Italy, Germany, Denmark, China, and Greece among others), while she has also taken part in international competitions.
