The Nicosia mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis, along with members of the municipal council, delivered 580 Christmas gift packages to underprivileged primary school students during a special ceremony on Wednesday.

The aim is to cover the needs of the 580 children and their families in terms of food and entertainment for the Christmas period, an announcement by the Nicosia municipality said.

The municipality’s gesture included vouchers from Athienitis supermarket, total value €23,200, half of which was provided by the supermarket itself. The vouchers can be redeemed until the end of December from the supermarket’s food section.

The children and their families were also granted the opportunity to see for free the children’s stage production “The wonderful journey”, which will take place on December 22 at the Peo offices.
