Funds allocated for special needs employment

The 2019 budget of the special fund for the centre for the vocational rehabilitation of the disabled was approved on Wednesday by the council of ministers, amounting to a total of €97,900.

The meeting, chaired by acting president and House president, Demetris Syllouris, authorised Labour Minister Zeta Emilianidou to place the budget before the plenum for voting.

According to the Cyprus News Agency, the budget’s largest expenditure, which amounts to €50,000, is allocated for supporting the disabled to form their own self-employment units.

As part of the budget, the council of ministers also approved two sponsorship schemes which will be given to organisations for the provision of training programmes, as well as training programmes for professionals working with those with special needs, with expenditure for these two new programmes expected to reach €40,000.

The fund’s reserves are expected to reach €780,000 by the end of 2019.
