Snow to arrive too late for a white Christmas

While there will be no white Christmas in Cyprus this year, snow is expected to fall in the mountains on Boxing Day and could even fall lower down the following day.

A statement from the Met service on Sunday said that on Christmas Eve the weather will be fine although cloud may develop later in the day.

Christmas Day itself will be cloudy while rain and isolated storms are expected in the evening.

More storms and rain are expected on Boxing Day while it is likely that snow will fall on the highest mountain peaks. On Thursday it is also expected to snow on the Nicosia plain. At the same time a drop in temperature is expected to be seen.

Last week the first snow of winter fell on Troodos on Wednesday morning.
