Where do you live?
In Larnaca with my partner and a cat that decided to move in with us. We call him The Cat, though his full title is His Supreme Royal Highness.
Best childhood memory?
Jumping over waves with my brother on McKenzie Beach. We kept getting knocked over and we couldn’t stop laughing. I think I was 7 and he was 5 but childhood summers tend to merge into one.
Most frequented restaurant and absolute favourite dish? What food would you really turn your nose up to?
I cannot possibly choose a single restaurant! The quality of restaurant food in Cyprus is now incredible and possibilities are practically endless for culinary adventurers. I love steak with mushrooms and creamed spinach but I am always happy to try new tastes. Having said that, I would struggle to bring myself to taste the Eyeball Soup from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.
What did you have for breakfast?
I had yoghurt with pecan nuts and berries, and black coffee
Would you class yourself as a day or night person? What’s your idea of the perfect night/day out?
I am a day person, without a doubt. I wake up at 5am and I’m ready to go almost immediately. I like having an entire day ahead of me. A perfect day out would involve a trip to the mountains with my video cameras, meeting new people, visiting wineries along the many Wine Routes that span the Troodos mountains.
Best book ever read?
It’s hard to claim any book is Best book ever…. We take away something different from each one and not a single book would satisfy anyone completely or forever. However, I return most often to Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett. Chaos Theory and humour – it’s loads of fun!
Favourite film of all time?
Casablanca. It is an incredible example of cinematography. The use of light and shadow to convey the dynamic between two characters or a character’s state of mind without a single word spoken is a lesson to anyone even tangentially involved in storytelling and film-making.
Favourite holiday destination? What’s your dream trip?
Every new holiday is my favourite holiday. This year I visited Chania in Crete. You can find the video on the WineScribble YouTube. A dream trip would be to the Barolo region in Italy.
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
The Greatest Hits of Queen. I was singing along to Don’t Stop Me Now when I arrived at the Gerolemo Winery to make a film last week. They were very amused. And nobody tried to stop me.
What is always in your fridge?
Lindt 85% chocolate, halloumi and gorgonzola. All combined they do present somewhat of a wine pairing challenge. But I enjoy any challenge that involves wine.
Dream house: rural retreat or urban dwelling? Where would it be, what would it be like?
Rural retreat, ideally somewhere along Wine Route 4. I would love a stone cottage with a basement. The wine could finally get to have its own room.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
Freddie Mercury. I love the music, however what fascinates me most is his ability to build up a character and a story arc through a handful of select details in his lyrics.
If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Stop filming the wine and start drinking it.
What is your greatest fear?
Losing a loved one
Tell me a joke…
Here is the secret to enjoying a good bottle of wine: 1. Open the bottle and allow it to breathe 2. If it doesn’t look like it’s breathing, give it mouth-to-mouth.
WineScribble is my hobby. It is the wine show that I want to watch. It wasn’t available so I have created it myself. The focus is on telling entertaining stories with high quality videography (currently available on the WineScribble YouTube and Instagram accounts)
