Authorities launched on Wednesday a rescue operation to airlift a man who reportedly suffered a heart attack while on a drilling platform off Cyprus.

According to media reports the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) was alerted at around 6.30pm that a crew member of a platform south of Cyprus had a serious health problem.

A helicopter was dispatched to air lift the man who reportedly suffered a heart attack.

The rescue crew’s task is a difficult one due to the bad weather conditions.
