Police on Saturday arrested a man for speeding and drink driving after he was clocked doing 176km/h on the Limassol to Nicosia motorway.

Officers stopped the 41-year-old who had been driving 76km over the legal limit and tested him for alcohol. A preliminary breathalyser showed 61μg, close to three times the legal limit of 22. The final reading was 68μg, police said.

The man was arrested and charged before he was released to face court at a later date.
