Pedestrian critical in Limassol hospital

A 46-year-old man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Limassol while trying to cross a road in the Ayios Athanasios area on Tuesday morning.

The victim, an employee of a private security company, was hit by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man.

He was taken by ambulance to Limassol general hospital where he is being treated for a head wound, a fractured rib and vertebrae.

The injured man is in critical but stable condition.

The driver who was tested for alcohol was not under the influence. He is being questioned as part of the investigation into the accident.

Apart from taking statements, police are looking at footage from security cameras in the area.
