Injured motorist driving at twice the limit ‘out of danger’

Larnaca general hospital

A 23-year-old involved in a car accident in Frenaros in the Famagusta district on Tuesday night was considered out of danger by Larnaca general hospital doctors on Wednesday.

An alcotest conducted on the 23-year-old after the crash showed a reading of 53μg instead of the allowed 22μg.

According to police, the 23-year-old crashed his vehicle into the perimeter wall of a home at around 11.30pm Tuesday night, while driving along Makarios Avenue in Frenaros.

The fire service had to cut the 23-year-old from his vehicle before he was transferred to Larnaca general hospital A&E.

The 23-year-old was still hospitalised on Wednesday, though doctors said he was out of danger.
