Wrap up, brave the cold that’s (finally) taken over the island and head to Technopolis 20 for yet another night of music galore. Tuneful events don’t seem to end at this west coast music hub and its upcoming concert promises romance with the tittle Walking Under the Stars.
Cellist Robertas Grod together with pianist Eugenijus Zarskus are preparing a chamber music evening on January 18.
The duo will present pieces written by composers from Brazil, Spain and France. For eager connoisseurs, these include the nostalgic Brazilian aria by H Villa-Lobos, a piece by the Spanish M de Falla full of authenticity and temperament. The variations by M Marais, that are perhaps some of the oldest in Europe with La Folia theme, follow, then with a piece by G Cassado, cellist from the 20th century known for his virtuosity and finally a delicate French humour by F Poulenc.
Lithuanian Grod’s studies led him to Cyprus and he now seeks and cultivates emerging musicians with his work for the Musical Talent Development Programme of the Ministry of Education under the tuition of professor M Kariolou.
Joining him is another Lithuanian, who specialises on the piano. Teaching and performing back in his home country, Zarskus is on the island just for the concert.
