Almost all roads open as sun comes out

Almost all roads in the mountains are now open to traffic after sunny and warm weather on Friday morning improved driving conditions.

The Kelokedaros – Amargetis – Natas road which was closed due to the overflowing Xeros river for days is now open, and only the Galataria – Salamiou road and the Tzelefos bridge remain closed in the Paphos district.

The only road for which drivers need four-wheel drives or snow chains is the road from Prodromos to Troodos which is still icy.

Police have warned that the following roads are open but slippery: Platres – Troodos, Karvounas – Troodos, Kalopanayiotis – Moutoulas, Ayios Dimitriou – Paliomylou – Lemithos – Kaminaria – Tris Elies, Pedhoulas – Prodromos, Pedhoulas – Pinewood – Kakopetria, Prodromos – Lemithos, Prodromos – Trooditissa – Platres, Pedhoulas – Moutoulas, Pedhoulas Kykkos

However, the postal services on Friday announced there will be delays in the delivery of mail in mountainous areas due to the weather conditions that made a large number of roads in those areas inaccessible.

On Saturday, it will be mainly sunny with just a few clouds. Temperatures ware set to rise to 19C in most areas and 8C in the higher mountains.

On Sunday, local rain, isolated thunderstorms and snow in Troodos are expected. It will be slightly cooler, bringing temperatures close to the average for this time of the year.

There is the possibility of more snow around Troodos on Monday and Tuesday especially in the evenings when it is cooler.
