Search resumes for missing Polis woman

Authorities on Saturday resumed the search for 69-year-old Eleni Plakidi, who has been missing from her home in Argaka, Paphos since Thursday afternoon.

Plakidi, a German national married to a Cypriot, reportedly left her home on Thursday afternoon to go to the local kiosk and has been missing since.

Her car was found on Friday afternoon, locked, near a beach in the area. The vehicle seems to have been stuck in the mud and Plakidi seems to have left it there after locking it. The 69-year-old has been having memory problems recently, reports said.

The search for Plakidi continued until late on Friday. Friends and relatives of the 69-year-old as well as members of the civil defence and the game and fauna fund are assisting the police search.

Police urge anyone who may possess information which can help locate her to contact Polis Chrysochous police station at 26-806280, any other police station, or call 112, 199 or the citizen’s hotline at 1460.
