All roads open but cold snap expected

A cold snap over the next few days will bring with it extremely cold weather and strong winds, especially in the mountains, and more snow on higher ground.

However, as of Monday morning all roads in the mountains were open to traffic without restrictions.

Temperatures on Monday will rise to 15C inland and in coastal areas and 5C on the higher mountains.

For the evening local rains, isolated storms and snow around Troodos are forecast, with temperatures falling to 1C in the mountains and 7C in the Nicosia area.

Strong winds and more rain and snow will prevail on Tuesday, and temperatures, which are the same as on Monday during the day, will fall noticeably in the evening.

On Wednesday, it will be even colder, with temperatures falling as low as -7C in the mountains at night and not expected to rise above freezing until Friday morning. Night time temperatures across the island are expected to be very low on Wednesday and Thursday.
