Group of Syrian refugees picked up on Larnaca-Dhekelia road

Police on Monday evening found 13 Syrian men who had arrived on a boat from Mersin in Turkey.

Around 6pm, eight refugees were spotted walking on the Larnaca – Dhekelia road, and another five three hours later on the same road.

The men told police they had walked from Syria to Turkey and from there paid someone $3,000 each to take them to Cyprus.

They were taken to Larnaca police station to be identified and afterwards to the refugee reception centre in Kokkinotrimithia.
