Beers sales in 2018 the highest ever

Beer sales in Cyprus reached 41 million litres in 2018, the highest since 2002, when records began.

According to figures released on Wednesday by the Cyprus Statistical Office, the total deliveries of beer from factories in 2018 reached 40.99 million litres, compared with 39.4 million in 2017. Of this, 39.9 million litres concerned domestic consumption and 1.1 million went to exports.
In December 2018, sales of beer amounted to two million litres compared with 1.67 million litres in December 2017. Again, almost all was for domestic use.

The months with the highest consumption in 2018 were the three summer months, with July at the top with 5.36 million litres, due to the large influx of tourists on the island.
The previous record of beer sales was recorded in 2008 with a total of 40.9 million litres.
