Giving women a safe space to come together

The days of #metoo have seen everything from social media campaigns to TV ads empower women of all ages and to raise respectful men. An alternative event is now calling women to come together and feel empowered. Women circles, as these gatherings are called, are ancient and simple, a unique refuge of calm in which women can connect in a way that is “simply not possible in any other social context”, according to organisers.

“Circle is a place for slowing down, respectfully listening and being heard, a way of being together that taps into the deep well of wisdom and creative thinking that is so needed in this time and place in history,” says organiser Serenity House.

They add that “Women’s Circles offer an opportunity to take a step back from life: to reclaim who you are underneath the chores, the to-do lists, the family and work commitments; to remember who you were before you got really busy and had no time left for yourself.”

This circle, being held Monday, will be a safe space of support, meditation and expression. During each session a topic of discussion is chosen that’s relevant to everyday experiences. Participants are encouraged to share and listen.
