Many rural roads closed due to overflowing rivers

Roads in rural areas have closed due to overflowing rivers and mudslides, police said on Saturday.

According to authorities the Ayia Marina-Peristerona road, the Kambos-Ayia Varvara road, and the Prodromos-Trooditissas road were closed to traffic from the overflowing river.

Police added that the Pedoulas-Kykkos-Kambos road, the Kakopetria-Karvouna road, the Moutoulla-Pedoulas road, the Pedoulas-Prodromos road, and Kambos-Ayia Varvara road, and the Prodromos-Trooditissa road were all dangerous due to slipperiness.

In the Paphos district, the road from the Tzelefos bridge to Ayios Nikolaos towards Pera Vasa and the Amargetis-Nata road and the Salamiou-Galatria road remained closed due to the overflowing river.

Police warned the public to be careful and to drive slowly, and keep a safe distance between vehicles, as many mudslides occurred and trees were felled from the recent weather conditions.

The public can learn more about the traffic conditions by visiting the Cyprus police website at or through the police’s social media accounts.
