Poachers fined

Two poachers were slapped with €500 fines each after being caught on Sunday on two separate occasions hunting by using machines which imitate bird calls.

A Limassol resident was caught at around 9.15am on Sunday by officers of the game and fauna service hunting with the use of such a device in the Kedares area in Paphos.

Around an hour later, a man from Paphos was caught, also using a bird calling machine in the Pyrovounos area in Galataria village.

Both men were issued with a €500 fine each, while their hunting guns were seized by the police as evidence.
