Wanderlust hits many of us, especially after the holidays and with all of those January flight sales it’s hard not to be tempted to buy a ticket. But for those staying put, an upcoming concert series seeks to take music fans on a journey to France and Argentina. Musical duo Christos Zenios on saxophone and Marianna Georgiou on piano will present their third collaboration for piano and saxophone in three concerts.
Starting at Windcraft centre in Nicosia next Sunday, the same concert will be repeated on February 15 at Technopolis 20, Paphos and finally on February 17 at Orpheas Music Hall, Limassol.
The programme will include different dances from France and Argentina with works by Gabriel Grovlez, Pierre Max Dubois, Jean Francaix and Astor Piazzolla.
The musicians are in their mid-to-late twenties yet have performed around Cyprus and in the UK.
They both started music training around the age of five and Christos carried his love for music throughout his army service as well, as a member of the Military Marching Band, before graduating with a BA in Music (Popular Music and Recording) with First Class Honours from the University of Salford and with an M.A in saxophone performance. Today, he teaches in the Music Schools of Paphos and Nicosia.
Marianna studied at the University of Nottingham and holds a BA with first class honours in Musicology and Piano Performance, and an MA in Piano Performance. She performed with various ensembles while in the UK and participated in several Masterclases and festivals. These days she teaches piano at the Music School of Paphos as well as performing frequently both as a soloist and in ensembles.
