Man arrested driving twice the speed limit

A man caught speeding at 219km/h on Sunday evening will appear in court on Tuesday.

The 55-year-old driver was stopped by police at 7.15pm on the motorway leading from the Rizoelia roundabout to Kalo Chorio in the Larnaca district, where the speed limit is 100km/h.

The car did not have front registration plates.

He was taken to Aradippou police station where he paid €500 bail prior to his appearance in court.
