Rain and storms to continue through the weekend

A mix of rain, storms and sunny intervals has been forecast for Friday and the weekend, while warmer and mostly sunny weather will return on Monday.

Due to recent rainfall the road from Ayios Nicolaos to Pera Vasa, the Kelokedaros – Natas – Salamiou and Salamiou – Galataria roads in the Paphos district are closed.

It snowed overnight in the higher mountains, and the Platres – Troodos, Karvounas – Troodos and Prodromos – Troodos roads are accessible only for vehicles with snow chains or four-wheel drive.

More snow is expected during the day in the area. Temperatures will rise to 7C in the Troodos region and 17C elsewhere.

Winds are going to be moderate to strong with hail and some storms in some areas.

At night, temperatures will fall to 7C inland, 10C near the coast and 1C in the mountains.

While it will be slightly cooler on Saturday, warmer weather is forecast for Monday, when it will be mostly sunny.
