A tour of someone else’s dreams

Allow yourself to dream next week at an upcoming exhibition of mixed media paintings by Anthi Pafiou. Dream Projections is her first solo exhibition, with brightly coloured artwork to be displayed at Prozac café-bar from February 13 to 27.

The artist’s work takes a conscious stand against actual events which she visually renders in a purely personal language. Vivid colours are inserted into almost violent images that put anthropoid beings in incomprehensible scenes.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Anthi has a varied background. She completed a BA in Contemporary Dance at the University of Nicosia with a scholarship and graduated from Athens School of Fine Arts, while her work has been exhibited in Spain, Greece and Cyprus.

Over the years, she has collaborated with artists of various fields, in experimental groups in Spain and in Greece and with artists and scientists, approaching the equal role of art and science in specific researches.

She’s also participated in the Young Artists Biennale/Milano 2015 with the performance piece And Here We Are and has been chosen from the International Expo to exhibit in Venice and Argentina (2016) and in Venice International Performance Week (2017).

In her most recent work, Anthi researches how art can be beneficial for society through the value of remaining in the “Present moment”.
